The hotel offers good access to transport links and is near Union Square and other shops, making it convenient for exploring downtown. The rooms were a little cheaper than some other hotels but were noisy due to hallway and outside disturbances even before the 3:00 pm check-in time.
My stay at the hotel was overall pleasant. The rooms were clean and bright, providing everything I needed. However, it was a bit noisy as I could hear conversations from the floors above. Adjusting the AC manually without a thermostat was a minor inconvenience.
The hotel's rooms, although spacious and filled with amenities, had an unpleasant smell reminiscent of a locker room that made it not worth the high price paid. The service was courteous throughout except for a delay in changing payment method. The hotel's rooms were fairly recently remodeled but felt cramped with large furniture. They looked outdated, with walls and doors in need of maintenance. The noise from the mall workers and trucks starting early at 5 am was disruptive, although a pleasant surprise for my birthday was a nice touch.
For the cost of San Francisco, the hotel rooms were small but had great beds, adequate bathing facilities, and a coffee/tea maker; however, no bar fridge or free breakfast was provided. The service during my stay, especially during the Game Developers Conference in March 2019, was pleasant and helpful. The location was great, close to downtown, but safety concerns were noted.
